Women Stuck by their Position in World

In the novel, The Great Gatsby, Scott Fitzgerald critiques and censures the 1920's " Jazz Age”, a materialistic era where the desire for wealth had an impeding effect on the minds of people within American society. This individual explores the concept the quest for wealth, rather than happiness, completely outclassed human pondering during this age group. The central women in the novel, Myrtle Wilson and Daisy Buchanan, are disillusioned by the intake of money being a euphoric source of happiness. Those two women target solely on the possessions and social status, ignoring the cruel realities that surround all their socially different lives. Although Myrtle yearns for a rich lifestyle, the lady cannot get away her your life of low income and infortune. On the other hand, Daisy yearns pertaining to love, although she cannot escape her life of wealth plus the luxury it gives you her. Even though their lives are polar opposites, Myrtle and Daisy happen to be trapped by way of a dependency about wealth and living in society's upper class.

Although Myrtle possesses a fierce persona and is eager to improve her social circumstance, she is captured by her impoverished lifestyle. She exists in the Area of Ashes, a long stretch out of land between East Egg and West Egg created by dumping of industrial ashes. Myrtle owns a brutal vitality and desperately looks for a way to increase her scenario. She has a great affair with Tom Buchanan, a rich married guy who lives in the East Egg. Chip learns even more about the affair when he has a discussion with Myrtle's sister, Catherine, " ‘She really need to get away from him, ' resumed Catherine in my experience. ‘ They've been living over that car port for 12 years. And Tom's the first sweetheart she ever before had'” (39). Myrtle wants Tom to rescue her from the poverty in which this lady has lived in for the majority of her life. She'd do anything to inherit some kind of wealth. When she is around Mary, she is far more arrogant and tries to live the typical snobby lifestyle.

Daisy is a gorgeous young female who is deeply in love with money, ease, and material luxury. She lives in the East Egg, which signifies the old nobility. Nick describes her and her partner's home since luxurious and high end.
