Preventive Measures towards criminal offense against females

Violence against women is a technical term used to collectively refer to violent acts that are primarily or entirely committed against women. Similar to a hate crime, this kind of violence focuses on a specific group with the victim's gender as a primary objective. The United Nations General Assembly defines " violence against women" as " any kind of act of gender-based assault that results in, or probably will result in,  physical,  sexual or mental damage or struggling to girls, including risks of these kinds of acts, coercion or arbitrary deprivation of liberty, whether happening in public or in non-public life. "  The 1993 Declaration on the Elimination of Physical violence Against Women noted that this physical violence could be perpetrated by assailants of both gender, members of the family and even the " State" itself. Worldwide governments and organizations actively work to combat assault against girls through a various programs. A UN resolution designated twenty-five November while International Day time for the Elimination of Violence against Women.

Though Women may be victims of any of the basic crimes such as ‘Murder', ‘Robbery', ‘Cheating', etc, only the offences which are directed specifically against Women will be characterised as ‘Crimes Against Women'. Several new legislations have been helped bring and changes have been produced in existing laws with a view to manage these criminal offenses effectively. These are broadly classified under two categories. (1) The Criminal offenses under the Of india Penal Code (IPC)

(i) Rape (Sec. 376 IPC)

(ii) Kidnapping & Abduction for specific purposes (Sec. 363 -373 IPC) (iii) Homicide pertaining to Dowry, Dowry

Deaths or their attempts (Sec. 302/304-B IPC)

(iv) Pain - both equally mental and physical (Sec. 498-A IPC) (v) Molestation (Sec. 354 IPC)

(vi) Sexual Nuisance (Eve Teasing) (Sec. 509 IPC)

(vii) Echange of girls (upto 21 years of age) (Sec. 366-B IPC) (2) The Crimes underneath the Special & Local Laws and regulations (SLL)

Though all laws are not gender specific, the provisions of law influencing women considerably have been examined periodically and amendments carried out to keep speed with the appearing requirements. T The male or female specific laws for which criminal offense statistics are recorded through the entire country are – (i) Immoral Targeted traffic (Prevention) Act, 1956

(ii) Dowry Prohibition Act, 61

(iii) Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Action, 1986 (iv) Sati Reduction Act, 1987

In recent years the incidents of women violence have increased significantly in South Asia.
